Abstract
He Remembered His Wellies ‘Miss, miss, look. I remembered my wellies,’ Luke smiles and proudly holds them up for me to see. I’m passing his classroom door on my way to settle my own children into their classrooms. Luke is known as forgetful, easily distracted, and struggling in school. I know this because his teacher has told me, adding that he is not ‘the type of child’ I’d want to join the nature club. But he is. He is curious, keen to learn, and happy to give up his lunch break to help in the school nature garden – unlike the teacher, who won't enter the garden without bicycle clips on her trousers to prevent snakes sliding up her legs.
